I have started to make some headway on my resolutions! I spent an ungodly amount of money on clothes today and discovered New York and Company for the first time in my life. I know its everywhere and has been in malls I frequent forever, but today was the first time I actually went inside of it. I had spent 3 extremely unsuccessful hours looking for petite sized clothing not intended for those 70+ (for example: seasonally embroidered sweaters, pants with a crotch about 12 inches long that sit just below your bra, floral pantsuits) and going inside NY & Co was literally like stumbling upon MECCA. It was my last resort to walk out of the mall having spent money and dear god, did I ever. Luckily there is an extremely enticing 20% off when you open a store credit card, and considering the fact this was the only place in all of Hickory with clothes I liked, I figured it would be a worthwhile thing to have in the long run.
I cannot wait to FINALLY look good for work. I mean, I'm not ragamuffin (read: greatest word ever) but until now I have been trying to make clothes I have owned since I was 18 work as work-clothes by wearing them with black pants. I have no idea why, despite the fact I needed to come up with something "business casual" to wear every Sunday for three years of college at my sorority meetings, that I never thought I needed to actually go out and buy business-intended clothing. It was seriously a struggle every Sunday and I was always immediately jealous when I saw how good literally everyone else looked. I was just too stingy and more interested in spending money on things like cammo cans of Busch or wine from bags.
I realized a little bit ago when I was hanging up all my new clothes that I bought a button-down that looks pretty much IDENTICAL to a button-down that Athan has hanging in his closet. Absolutely need to organize an awkward picture of the two of us wearing them.
