Resolutions

I know I'm a little late on this considering it is already the 10th day of 2010, but I needed to give my resolutions some thought before just throwing anything out there. So here we go:

1. Lose post-grad weight. Somehow no longer having the safety net of college & my parents has caused me to gain 15 pounds. Obviously need to assess this situation. I got Easy Tone sneakers for Christmas and am hopeful they are magic weight loss sneakers that mean I just wear them and don't do anything else different and am suddenly thin. Not banking on that theory though.

2. Stop worrying about things I can't control. I worry about a LOT of things that I shouldn't. I keep trying to plan things and to date, none of my plans have unfolded the way I would have liked because that pesky thing called life continues to butt in. No more. I am going to go with the flow. I hope.

3. Get better clothes & shoes. I guess this is just an excuse to go shopping but I had a shocking realization when I looked into my closet the other day that I am one pair of denim overalls and some duct taped shoes away from appearing on What Not to Wear. The real problem is that it is hard to dress like a mature adult when you have the body of a 12 year old. Also I haven't had spending money directed towards clothes in a loooong time. I usually spend extra money on going out to eat, but now that I see what that got me, I am designating it to clothes and shoes. Especially now that 3 different pairs of my flats have soles no longer fully attached to them.

4. Stay in touch with my friends. I am a US Postal Service-phobic and cannot seem to walk myself the six feet across the street to the mailbox to send anyone any communication of any kind. My best friends and I are now in five different cities/states: North Carolina, Minnesota (and soon to be Colorado), Missouri, Virginia and Maryland. Also this resolution is completely stolen from Miss Missouri but I liked it so yeah. Will be planning weekly phone dates and emails and hopefully delving into the wonders of hand-written mail. I'll wear my Easy Tone sneakers on the painful walk to the mail box and kill two birds with one stone.

So I think 4 resolutions is enough.

Also I realized from looking at this blog I never mentioned that I DID get promoted and am really looking forward to a new, fabulous WRITING job starting on the 18th. Which I will actually be sent to Orlando for a tradeshow on. I put in my time as a contractor and was able to get a reeeeally fantastic new full-time, salaried position that I am extremely excited about! So looks like I'm staying in Hickory for a little while!
